Kent, Wash. (Jan. 11, 2007) – Oh Boy! Oberto announced today the renewal of their relationship with three of the top saltwater angling teams of the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup. Mike and Michael Frenette, Ken Chambers and John Merriwether and Keith Hartsell and Fred Lynch will all be representing Oberto at each of the four Southeastern stops on the 2008 circuit.

Oh Boy! Oberto is based in Kent, Wash., and began their relationship with saltwater fishing in 2003, when they signed on as title sponsor of the Redfish Cup, the nation’s premier saltwater fishing championship. Since then they have also sponsored various top teams of the Cup, providing them with wrapped boats, branded tournament clothing and Oberto products. In return, the anglers assist in on-site activation in all tournament markets on behalf of the company and participate in reward and hospitality programs exclusively for Oberto distribution and retail partners.

“We’re excited to renew our relationships with each of these talented teams,” said Tom Ennis, Oberto Sausage Company vice president of marketing. “There are 50 million fishing enthusiasts across the United States, and a large concentration of those are located in the Southeast. This is a natural extension to our Redfish Cup sponsorship and helps us grow awareness for our Beef Jerky brand in an important region.”

Team Frenette consists of the father-son duo of Mike and Michael Frenette. They have enjoyed consistent success on the Cup circuit, including a win at Kemah, Texas in 2006 and numerous top-five finishes.

Team Chambers and Merriwether is made up of Florida natives Ken Chambers and John Merriwether. In their second year as an Oberto-sponsored team, they already boast two top-10 finishes, including a second place showing at 2007’s All Star season-ending event in Morehead City, N.C.

Team Hartsell and Lynch are Keith Hartsell and Fred Lynch of Corpus Christi, Texas. Hartsell is a Redfish Cup veteran with several high finishes attached to his name, and Lynch is a newcomer with a solid reputation in the world of redfishing.

Together these three teams make up the top-tier of competitors on the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup and provide the company with a strong shot at the Team of the Year title. The schedule, which kicks off in late April, includes four stops across the Southeast leading up to the Oh Boy! Oberto Redfish Cup championship in October.

Each 2008 Redfish Cup event features a variety of activities for the entire family and will draw an estimated 150,000 attendees over the course of the season. Each event is also televised nationally on ESPN2, where almost 20 million fans have tuned in since 2003.This year competitors will have a shot at over $1 million to be paid out across the four events and the championship.
